A few if the SquidlyAIR podcasts will be re-issued in order to take care of some audio issues reported by a couple of listeners (P’s and B’s too forceful).  Episodes 4-6 appear to be the only ones that are causing issues for people.  Give me a couple of weeks to get them all corrected.

Plus, more episodes should be on the way as well.  I have received a couple of bites from other Sailors who are interested in recording, helping with research and script writing.  If you’re interested, drop me a note at squidlyair care of gmail.com.

I’m looking at changing the theme to SquidlyAIR and figured I would post a request to the readership.  Do you have a theme (restrictions below) that you think would work really well with the SquidlyAIR podcast?

Restrictions are as follows:
- It cannot be a copyrighted tune!
- It has to be “podcast” or “fair use” friendly.
- It must be usable as a background song.  Sadly, I can’t use a song that has powerful vocals or is REALLY LOUD.

I’m running through a couple of podcast-friendly tune websites now (like Podsafe Audio and MagnaTune) in order to find a new sound.  If you hear one that you think could be a contender send a link to squidlyair/@/gmail.

Hey all.  I see that there’s quite a few of you still out there hitting this site for many of your AIR needs, and I’ve been a little lax on getting everything updated of late.  Know that Im updating the links in to the bibs and the pubs area… AAAAnd SquidlyAIR will be getting some new episodes soon!!

I’ve had to start a complete overhaul of the study blog and support software, primarily to address all of the problems that have crept up over the last two months.

Good news and irritating news… Good news is we’ve got plans to record up to 20 SquidlyAIR podcast episodes.  I hope to have them all recorded, edited and posted before the March 2009 exams are completed.  Details will be forthcoming for those who are interested in helping.

The irritating news  is that the latest updates to my blog software break the ability to update the site.  Strangely, the updates do not affect most of my other blogs – just this one and one other.  So, I had to roll back the installation to an earlier version in order to make this one entry (whee).  The glitch also made updating the podcasts a bit of a problem, too.  Hope to have the latest SquidlyAIRs up shortly.

Finally created a work-around for an issue that was discovered by shipmates trying to get their SquidlyAIR episodes via iTunes.

Full bibliographies (Sept 2008 – Jan 2009) are now available in the “Pubs & Files” area.

I don’t know if this is a new site or not, but NETWARCOM’s Force Career Counselor site has some good information for those who are going up for E-4 to E-6.  They have electronic copies of many of the pubs that are required for the general community, and not just CTs.

Got reports of iTunes not being able to download episodes of SquidlyAIR, and I gotta say I’m a bit stumped as to why.  It might have been a software upgrade in the last few weeks here on my host…  Who knows.  All I know is that direct downloads and RSS feed pulls (like from iPodder, etc) still work.

It seems that even if you go under the Advanced menu and select “Subscribe to Podcast” and paste my RSS feed in (http://study.schleppingsquid.net/?feed=podcast) it *still* doesn’t work – but works great with other podcacher programs…  Still troubleshooting this.  Sorry for the issue.  Grrrr….
